(She/Her)
Commencing February 2027
April is expected to join Breathe Psychology in February 2027 as an Associate Clinical Psychology Registrar, subject to meeting the relevant registration and registrar program requirements.
April is a warm and down-to-earth psychologist who values genuine connection and collaboration in her work. She believes that feeling safe, understood and accepted within the therapeutic relationship is an important foundation for meaningful change. April strives to create a welcoming, non-judgemental space where clients feel comfortable exploring their experiences, developing a deeper understanding of themselves and working towards their personal goals.
April takes a holistic, person-centred and trauma-informed approach to therapy, recognising that our experiences and wellbeing are shaped by the broader systems in which we live. She seeks to understand each person beyond their symptoms or diagnoses, considering the influence of their relationships, environment, life experiences and individual strengths. Her approach is collaborative and informed by evidence-based practice, with therapy tailored to each person’s unique needs and circumstances.
April brings experience across community and tertiary mental health settings, supporting children, young people, families and adults. More About April
As part of her Master’s research project, April explored identity and wellbeing among individuals living with multiple psychological diagnoses. This work deepened her appreciation of the complexity of mental health experiences, particularly how diagnostic labels can shape the ways individuals understand themselves and their experiences.
Alongside her work at Breathe, April also works within a national eating disorder support organisation. This is an area of mental health she cares deeply about, with a particular interest in helping people develop a more compassionate relationship with themselves and their bodies.
Outside of work, you’ll often find April connecting with nature through hiking and camping, or embracing her creative side at the pottery studio.
